First of all, another wicked SoBeBeats party with all of the great people that make those parties a lot of fun. Also props to William from Transoverload for equipping us with some extra full range kickers outside. So here’s what happened in a nutshell… the warehouse would’ve been great, but as is the case with many underground parties, someone ruined the prize. In this case, it seems the feds checked out the listing online. They drummed up some problematic permit problems, the guys are still trying to figure out how it wasn’t a blatant threat, and the party would have to be moved. I understand that the warehouse people kept the reservation money, which is just another typical chapter in South Florida’s bitchy scene. This doesn’t seem at all fair considering not one guest was admitted to the original location and all gear and effects were out by 11:30pm, no one even played any music there, but no more on this… Its beneath the Sobebeats boyz anyway, who are on to the next party with no looking back.So the techno gods were smiling on us. Through a few phone calls: thanks Nena, Deleim, and Eric! We booked the outdoors of I/O, a club less than 2 blocks away… perfect. With some battles with the cabling, we managed to breakdown the system in one location and have it up and running in another within one hour and 15 minutes…unfortunately, due to a power problem at I/O, we couldn’t run the rig at full power, but people were just loving the fact that there night didn’t get ruined by the Feds, so I think everyone was enjoying. Rowland the Bastard played a wicked ghetto-tech set, then, when the inside party got thin, the SobeBeats guys asked him to come inside to the main room. This was a continuation and ended the night with another hour-and-a-half of Rowland tha Bastard. It was cool seeing Rowland again, see the back catalog for the Approach and Identify party we threw years ago for more. And Rowland’s girlie Em was pretty cool too, though tryin to survive some serious jetlag, she managed to stay on her feet.. wicked! Hope to see you all again, and let’s see what techno bubbles to the surface next! Thanks all!! — Robert
