Thanks for visiting our Web site. Blackbox Soundsystem is a mini-rig soundsystem being developed by some friends in Miami who are also known as WFTAW or Wonders From the Alien Worlds. Having been involved in underground ventures in South Florida for over ten years, the soundsystem is a grass roots effort to provide consistent sound reinforcement to artists (including ourselves); and trying to do this without sending people bankrupt in the process. There are no $1,000 credit checks or deposits required, and you won’t have to transport, set-up, or return this system yourself: we do it. Got an interesting event you need a bit of extra sound for? Our background is in hard techno and psychedelic trance, but we’ve always been open to all types of possibilities for music. In 1995, we hosted a psychedelic trance/acid techno radio show called WFTAW: Wonders From the Alien Worlds on WOWL 91.7 FM in South Florida. We needed a Web site to post our playlists, links, reviews, and interviews so we set up www.wftaw.com. Since then, we’ve used this site to share resources and information about techno in our area.
We’ve hosted the WFTAW broadcast on WOMB 107.1 FM (before it went to web-only) from 1999 to 2005 and we’ve promoted our own events and participated in events with others. Our djs over the years include: Arjuna, t zero, Frans Martins, Blitkrieg Bob, Putyu, Jay Transmitter, Pdogz, Kevin Michaels, Entropia, and Chica Plastika. We still dj at parties and events, see our blog for details. We have released some dj mixes and have shopped some demos in the past as well, but our latest adventure has been building the mini-rig soundsystem to help reinforce sound at local events.
